Algbra Labs had the honour of joining The World Bank at the “World Bank Hub” for the day, where we shared insights into how our innovative and values-driven Fintech-as-a-Service (FaaS) solutions play a vital role in accelerating development, a core ideal behind Algbra's founding 5 years ago.

Algbra's Founder and CEO Zeiad Idris took to the stage alongside Jean Pesme – Global Director of Finance, Competitiveness & Investment at the World Bank Group – in a session moderated by Sthembile Nkabinde, an investor, advisor, and founder. The panel discussion, titled “𝘌𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘎𝘭𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘭 𝘍𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘩 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴: 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘰 𝘏𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘍𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘩 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵”, explored several key themes:

Fintech should prioritise collaboration over disruption. By partnering with incumbents and leveraging their respective strengths, FinTechs and traditional institutions can collectively advance the financial services industry to better support development.

𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 = 𝗢𝗻𝗲-𝗦𝗶𝘇𝗲-𝗙𝗶𝘁𝘀-𝗔𝗹𝗹

Increasing access to financial services through cost-effective digital onboarding and servicing is only the beginning. Meaningful financial inclusion requires offering bespoke services tailored to the identities, geographical contexts, and values of underserved populations.

Financial inclusion drives progress on 7 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Delivering high-quality, digital, and values-driven financial services at scale is essential for creating a more empowered, equitable, and sustainable society for all.

It was also inspiring to listen to the broader conversations happening throughout the day at the World Bank Hub, culminating in a high-energy pitching competition hosted by the Baobab Network, where a range of impressive fintechs went head-to-head.
